High in the Allegheny Mountains.
It's a great place to come experience Appalachia and just have fun in the mountains.
We're located at the southern tip of Cheat Mountain.
Cheat Mountain is 4,848 feet, second-highest point in the state.
Cheat Mountain got its name way back in the 1800s because the Cheat River starts here, and runs down the valley.
The expression back then was the Cheat River had cheated many a man of its life.
Because the micro-climate here, and the weather's very harsh.
And Cheat Mountain picked up on the river's namesake.
Dr. Thomas Brigham was the founder of Snowshoe.
He had the vision to build it the way it is, the upside-down resort.
They initially planned to do it the way you'd usually build a ski resort, with the base area at the bottom, but he saw one great sunset at the top of the mountain and said, you know what, let's put all of our base area facilities at the top of the mountain.
So you ski down, and then ride the lift back up, a little counterintuitive for most folks who've skied elsewhere.
But that leads to the lodging and all the facilities up here having those amazing sunrise and sunset views.
On top of the mountain, we have over 1,200 units spread across 37 different complexes.
Regular hotel rooms, condos, and there's houses that can have two or three families in them.

LAURITA: I tell you what, from getting here the first day and me getting my snow adventure in, with the tubing.
LAUREN: Mm-hm.
(Laurita laughing).
LAURITA: And you know what, I fell again.
LAUREN: You jinxed yourself, honestly.
You've been talking about falling, and you jinxed yourself.
LAURITA: I know!
I just need to not put that out in the atmosphere.
LAUREN: Right, I will say.
LAURITA: But it happened, I felt like somebody put a snowball right in front of my foot and tripped me up because I was doing so well, and then all of a sudden I was on the ground.
But that was just pure, childlike fun.
I think that's probably my favorite.
LAUREN: Mm-hm.
LAURITA: Because I felt like a kid again.
But I tell you what, if you want some snow you gotta go to a mountain.
I mean, you just gotta do it.
LAUREN: Yeah, that's true.
LAURITA: For the whole experience.
LAUREN: Yeah.
LAURITA: I'm gonna make this trek home.
I need some tunes.
